Angie Aker is our Content Manager, based in Kenosha, WI. She applies her background in empathy- and data-driven storytelling to our web and social content to elevate the stories that matter to our audience.

Angie’s spent most of the last decade refining the ability to reach average Americans where they’re at on issues that matter. Starting with her pioneering viral media work at MoveOn.org, she wrote many of the headlines that went on to help launch Upworthy (as well as the political careers of those that she highlighted). Angie was a panelist and speaker at the 2014 Gates Foundation Annual Media Summit, with a focus on how to reach audiences in new ways and how to measure impact. She is also an ardent activist in Wisconsin’s first Congressional district, known internationally for her viral and earned media-garnering progressive protests.

Angie studied Business Management and Communications at Concordia University, but her real education comes from being an involved citizen and the World’s Okayest Mother to Axel, Gianna, and their Shih Tzu, Buffybot.
